Sedation Services
Procedural Sedation can be a complicated element of care—especially in pediatric patients. That’s why it’s important that children receive these services from health care professionals who specialize in pediatric sedation.
Short-term sedation helps specialists obtain better quality study results during procedures such as X-rays, CT, MRI, GI, central line placement, ultrasound, and echocardiograms. The average time for outpatient sedation service from time of admission to discharge home is less than two hours.
Our child- and family-friendly service strives to make the process as stress-free as possible. For example, the pediatric sedation room located in the radiology suite has toys to play with while waiting, and each child may take a toy home following their procedure.
To schedule patients for procedures at Mary Bridge, the child’s referring physician should call the department performing the study. They will coordinate with the sedation team. When scheduling sedation services, please advise us if your patient has any special needs or requests and significant medical history, including respiratory, cardiac problems, or allergies.
