Volunteer Opportunities at BRIDGES
Group Facilitator
Participates as a group facilitator in planning and leading grief support groups with children and adults. Performs no formal counseling as part of the groups. Coordinates activities with co-facilitators.Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitates 1.5-hour grief support groups twice each month with children ages 4-18 years, or parent support groups.
- Attends twice-monthly pre-group and post group meeting to prepare for and debrief group facilitation experience.
- Attends Bridging Program In-Service held 5 times per year.
- Coordinates and plans group sessions with co-facilitators.
- Learns and uses available book, article and therapeutic tool resources.
- Prepares group room for group meeting and puts away supplies afterward, returning room to its original condition.
Gym Facilitator
Act as leader and companion in the gym and commotion room for twice monthly bereavement support groups.Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in greeting kids and parents.
- Let’s children know that gym is open when they are through eating.Monitors first for safe play
- Closes gym at 6:30 pm and sends children upstairs.
- Coordinates with BRIDGES Staff on group task, activity and needs for evening gym activities.
- Closes gym at 8 pm
- In charge of equipment
House Parent
Act as host and/or hostess for twice monthly potluck as part of bereavement support groups.Duties and Responsibilities
- Arrive by 5 pm for setting up the 6 pm potluck
- Sets tables and chairs in Well’s Hall or serving table in foyer.
- Makes coffee and punch
- Sets out plates/silverware/napkins/cups, etc
- Greets families sand sets out potluck dishes
- In charge of clean up
Clerical Volunteer
Help with filing paperwork and preparing mailings for the BRIDGES program.Crafters
- Sew Feelie Hearts
- Make tied fleece blankets for Camp Erin
- Sew “Hugs” for Camp Erin
- Sew miscellaneous other crafts for BRIDGES and camp
