Diagnosis-based Preference Lists will be eliminated on April 23

As part of the ICD-10 implementation in April 2014, diagnosis based preference lists will be going away. It was determined that with the vast number of codes associated with ICD-10, it would be nearly impossible to create and maintain accurate, user-friendly diagnosis based preference lists.

Update on inpatient dialysis at MultiCare

The vendor that provides dialysis services at MultiCare's Pierce County hospitals is experiencing a temporary staffing shortage and some of our hospitals may not always have the preferred number of dialysis nurses to treat patients. Auburn Medical Center is not served by the same vendor. Because of this shortage, a system-wide team is meeting on a daily basis to review our patients and our processes to ensure we are providing appropriate care.

The nomination phase for Seattle magazine's 14th annual "Top Docs" ranking is now open. New this year for the peer-to-peer survey is ability for providers to nominate nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The magazine is also requesting nominations for their second annual community service award.

Tacoma General Hospital ranks among best heart programs in U.S.

Only one hospital in Washington state is listed among the nation’s top heart programs. MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was honored as one of “100 Hospitals With Great Heart Programs” by Becker’s Hospital Review.

This new treatment is putting cancer patients into remission
