Where did you grow up: Seattle, WA
Undergrad: University of Washington
Medical School: Western University of Health Sciences
Philosophy of care: First do no harm. Start with the simplest and least invasive plans first whenever possible (including osteopathic manipulative medicine). Involve patients in their care. Never stop learning.
Why did you choose EPFM residency: One of the reasons I became interested in EPFM is that it is an unopposed residency where we, the family medicine residents, are the teaching focus of attending physicians from internal medicine, obstetrics, surgery, pediatrics, not to mention family medicine! The area has a great need for family physicians and there is an amazing opportunity to help the underserved. Another appealing factor was the opportunity to continue learning, practicing, and treating with osteopathic manipulative medicine. I was attracted to the opportunity to help shape a residency starting off with a strong foundation in a technologically advanced and thriving health care system. All this, and it's in the Northwest!
Medical Interests: Evidence-based medicine, procedures, infectious disease, sports medicine, neuromusculoskeletal medicine, wilderness medicine, emergency medicine.
Personal interests/Hobbies: On the infrequent occasions I'm not off rock climbing, I'm out biking, backpacking, playing chess, tinkering with technology, or trying to hack my garden into shape.
