A moose on the loose delighted young patients -- and a few grownups as well -- on Thursday at MultiCare Mary Bridge Children's Hospital & Health Center in Tacoma.
In what has become an annual preseason tradition, the Seattle Mariners mascot, along with baseball players Mike Carp, Michael Saunders and broadcaster Rick Rizzs, made the "Get Well Tour" stop as part of the 2012 Seattle Mariners Caravan.
Just inside the hospital entrance, one woman came up to Mariner Moose and said she "really needed a hug today" because her sister was ill. The Moose gave her a warm embrace.
Later, in the Sixth Floor lobby at Mary Bridge, children came from their rooms to meet Carp, Saunders, Rizzs and the Moose. The players spoke with children, shared some laughs and posed for photos. They gave the kids autographs, a Mariners sport bag, a stuffed toy, a baseball and a get-well photo card. You don't have to be a member of the Seattle Mariners (or a Moose) to support the kids at Mary Bridge.
