President and CEO William G. “Bill” Robertson, joined MultiCare in 2014. He came from Adventist HealthCare Inc. based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Prior to Adventist, Robertson served as CEO of Shawnee Mission Medical Center near Kansas City, Kan. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Adventist University, and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University. He also was a Certified Public Accountant.
Executive Vice President Florence Chang joined MultiCare Health System in 2006. She came to MultiCare from Dearborn Advisors, LLC, where she served as senior vice president and partner. She has 20 years of health care information technology experience. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She is a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) and holds an American Society of Clinical Pathologists License (ASCP). She also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University.
Senior Vice President, Community Services Lois I. Bernstein joined MultiCare in 1998. Prior to joining MultiCare, she worked in similar positions at Scripps Health and Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego and University of California, San Diego Medical Center. Lois received her Bachelor of the Arts in Communications from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation from San Diego State University. She also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Irvine. She serves on the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, University of Washington Tacoma Milgard School of Business Advisory Board, Crystal Judson Family Justice Center Executive Board, Broadway Center for the Performing Arts Board of Directors, City of Tacoma Financial Sustainability Task Force and the Washington State Hospital Association Public Policy Advisory Group.
Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development Theresa M. Boyle, Ms. Boyle is the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for MultiCare Health System. Her previous experience includes twenty-one years with Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound in various progressive management capacities culminating as Executive Director, Strategy and Planning, 2004 – 2008 and Executive Director, Market Development and Analysis, 1997 – 2004. Over the past twenty years Ms. Boyle’s leadership abilities and experience have resulted in numerous accomplishments in marketing and communications, strategic planning, business planning and development initiatives. Ms. Boyle received a Master in Business Administration degree from Seattle University in 1991 and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Puget Sound in 1984. She serves as the Vice President of the Habitat for Humanity board of directors and is a member of the Emergency Food Network board.
Senior Vice President and General Counsel Mark Gary joined MultiCare in 2007 and has served as its chief legal officer and general counsel since 2013. Prior to joining MultiCare, Mark was a partner in the Seattle law firm Bennet, Bigelow & Leedom, where he practiced primarily health care business law. He received his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore. Mark is active in community and professional activities including formerly serving on the board of Pacific Medical Centers and formerly serving on the board of the Washington Community Health Information Technology Alliance and as past King County Bar Association Neighborhood Legal Clinics program chair.
Chief Financial Officer Anna Loomis joined MultiCare in 2002. She served as Controller at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and has taken on roles with increasing responsibility within the organization including as the vice president of finance. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration-Accounting degree from Pacific Lutheran University and is a Certified Public Accountant. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Pacific Lutheran University.
Chief Physician Officer Claire Spain-Remy, MD, joined MultiCare in 2008 following 12 years in private practice. Dr. Spain-Remy, an obstetrician and gynecologist, has served in several medical leadership roles including most recently as the Medical Vice President for Specialty Care for MultiCare Medical Associates. She earned her medical degree from Duke University and completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Madigan Medical Army Center. She received her Master's of Medical Management degree at University of Southern California and is a member of the American College of Physician Executives.
President & Market Leader, West Pierce Region, Shelly Mullin, RN, MHA, began her career in 1986 as an RN in the Tacoma General Hospital Emergency Department after she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pacific Lutheran University. Mullin is responsible for patient care and services in Gig Harbor and Tacoma, including Tacoma General Hospital, Allenmore Hospital and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, as well as MultiCare’s system-wide Environment of Care and Supply Chain. Mullin worked 13 years in the Emergency Department and eventually became the Clinical Director. In 1999, she earned a Masters Degree in Hospital and Healthcare Administration from the University of Washington, and in 2008 she completed the Nurse Executive Program with the Wharton School of Business in Pennsylvania. Shelly has previously served as Vice President and Administrator of Tacoma General Hospital and as Administrative Director of MultiCare Surgical Services. She is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, Northwest Organization for Nurse Executives, Tacoma Trauma Trust Board of Directors, and American Leadership Forum. She is MultiCare’s operational leader and Board of Director member for the Carol Milgard Breast Center.
President & Market Leader, East Pierce Region, Glenn Kasman joined Good Samaritan in 1998 and was named President in April 2011. Glenn has served many roles at Good Samaritan, including Vice President of Professional Services and Business Development, Vice President of Strategic Development, Administrator of Good Samaritan Surgery Center, Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and other positions. His portfolio has included hospital, clinic, physician, and health system operations as well as strategic planning and transactions. He began his career as a physical therapist and has co-authored three textbooks on kinesiological surface electromyography as well as presented extensively in national and international settings. Glenn has played a key role in Good Samaritan’s transformation into a regional medical center and is committed to serving the East Pierce community. He has a Master in Behavioral Neuroscience from Northwestern University as well as undergraduate degrees in psychobiology and physical therapy. Glenn is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has completed a certificate program in Managing HealthCare Delivery from the Harvard Business School.
President & Market Leader, South King Region, Hugh Kodama joined MultiCare in 1993, and for the last 10 years has overseen most of MultiCare’s operations in South King County, as MultiCare’s Administrator for South King County, and now as Vice President of our South King County Region. He was a driving force behind MultiCare’s successful Certificate of Need application to build a 58-bed hospital in Covington, as well as working to bring emergency services to the community. Hugh holds a Master’s of Science in Health Administration from the University of Colorado, as well as a Master’s of Science in Business Administration from Boston University. Hugh is very involved in the community, including serving on the Covington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and co-chairing the Covington Economic Development Council, as well as being active with the Covington Emergency Management Committee, the Pierce County Library Foundation, and the American Leadership Forum Board of Directors.
President & Market Leader, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, Linda Chen joined MultiCare in 2015. Chen previously worked at Florida Hospital for Children. Prior to Florida Hospital, Chen’s career was spent in the sports and entertainment industry where she developed innovative brand partnerships. She also worked for The Walt Disney Company from 2000 to 2005 in the Alliance Development business segment. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology/Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Stetson University in Florida.
