Hand, Wrist & Upper Extremity
The bones in your hand make up one-fourth of all the bones in your body. This is also the reason we can be so precise and dexterous in our movements; the more bones and joints we have, the easier it is to fine-tune our motion. Our hands are put to the test every single day and most of us are using our hands at nearly every waking moment.
With all this hand activity, arthritis has a natural place to live. Over time all those joints begin to break down and age, leaving many with painful, clumsy hands. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which is pressure on a nerve in the wrist, comes from frequent and repetitive use of the hands. Injury from knives, saws or other accidents can affect the tendons and muscles in the hand and may require surgery.
