Beginning September 2012, a City of Tacoma construction project on Stadium Way will require a detour for drivers who use Interstate 705 to access MultiCare Health System’s main campus in Tacoma, including MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center.
Detour directions when Stadium Way is closed: From I-5 North or South, take the City Center Exit 133 onto I-705. Follow I-705 to Schuster Parkway. Stay in right lane and take Stadium Way exit. Turn left on Stadium Way and then take the first right onto South Ninth Street. Turn right onto Market Street and continue straight onto St. Helens Avenue. Turn left onto South Sixth Avenue and drive a half mile. Turn right onto Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The hospital entrance is on the right.
