ALERT: Sprague Avenue Exit Closed to All Traffic June 1, 2009
Nalley Valley Viaduct replacement project effecting access to MultiCare services
The Nalley Valley Viaduct is the major connection between Interstate 5 and State Route 16 in Tacoma. Many of MultiCare’s patients use this route to access MultiCare’s services, especially Allenmore Hospital
The Washington State Department of Transportation has begun a Nalley Valley viaduct replacement project that will affect traffic on the interchange for the next few years.
Effective June 1, 2009, the Sprague Avenue Exit will be closed to all traffic.
For more information on the project and its impacts on traffic, visit the WSDOT project website: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/PierceCountyHOV/SR16_WBNalleyValley/
Accessing Allenmore Hospital:
Access to Allenmore Hospital is easiest from the Union Avenue exit for both westbound and eastbound traffic on State Route 16. When exiting SR 16 westbound, turn right on Union Ave. When exiting eastbound, turn left on Union Ave. Proceed north and turn right on South 19th Street. Allenmore Hospital is on the right side of South 19th Street.
Eastbound traffic from Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula can also use the 19th Street-Eastbound exit. Proceed east on 19th Street for one mile. Allenmore Hospital will be on the right just past the intersection of 19th & Union.
Accessing Tacoma General Hospital and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital:
For traffic approaching Tacoma from the south, simply stay on Interstate 5, take exit 133 to Interstate 705-City Center. Follow signs to Schuster Parkway, then to Stadium Way. Turn right on Stadium and go up the hill. At the top, turn left on Division Ave. Proceed ½ mile and the hospitals are on the right.
