MultiCare among most wired health care organizations
MultiCare Health System is one of the nation’s 100 Most Wired health care organizations for the second year, according to Hospital & Health Network magazine.
MultiCare is one of the few health systems in the nation to have a complete electronic health record system and one of only two health systems in Western Washington to earn this distinction.
The 99 Most Wired organizations are hospitals and health systems that scored the highest on a recent national survey of more than 555 hospitals and health systems. The survey looked at the achievement in clinical quality and safety, in the care continuum and in technology infrastructure as well as in business and administrative management.
“MultiCare uses technology to connect all of our providers and all of our patients in a seamless and sustainable way,” said Florence Chang, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. “Investing in our electronic health record provides safer and more convenient care for our patients.”
All MultiCare outpatient clinics and hospitals are linked to the electronic health record called MultiCare Connect..
The system includes physician order entry, inpatient and outpatient area access, electronic imaging, patient access to records, bedside barcoding and other features that ensure patients get the safest and best care possible. MultiCare patients can view their health record, lab and test results, schedule an appointment or refill prescriptions using a secure patient portal called MyChart (Powered by MultiCare) at home or anywhere they have internet access.
MultiCare has been at the leading edge of this technology with implementation of MultiCare Connect more than 10 years ago in 1998.
MultiCare has earned other distinctions recently for health information technology. Earlier this year, MultiCare Health System accepted the prestigious HIMSS Davies Organizational for being a national leader in implementing health information technology. The system is a HIMSS stage 6 organization. The award is given to just one health care system in the country that effectively uses health information technology, such as electronic health records, to improve the safety and quality of patient care.
