A diagnosis of cancer cannot be treated by medicine alone. Cancer patients are faced with unique needs for social, emotional and educational support.

That’s why, in addition to advanced medical care, the Dr. Richard C. Ostenson Cancer Center at Good Samaritan also provides a comprehensive array of patient-centered support services including:

  • Education and resource center featuring Internet access and a lending library of cancer and health information materials
  • Nutritional counseling program to help patients stay strong through diet
  • Programs to help patients and their families cope with the unique challenges of a cancer diagnosis
  • Cancer support groups that unite patients and survivors
  • Pastoral care to support the spiritual needs of patients and families
  • Risk-reduction, prevention and screening services
  • Comfort therapies that can reduce pain and provide relaxation
  • Specialty shop where patients can purchase cosmetic, prosthetic and other personal appearance items helpful during cancer treatment

Support Services

At Good Samaritan, we know that effective treatment is not just an effective diagnosis and the right treatment or surgery, but also includes effective, compassionate support services. We provide a variety of support services to meet the needs of our patients, including Rainier Physicians, PC, MultiCare Interventional Pain Management - Puyallup and cancer support groups.
