You can help children of abuse
Children are at high risk of abuse due to the impact of COVID-19 on our communities and the policies enacted to combat the virus. While these isolating policies are necessary, they have unintended consequences for children who are vulnerable to abuse.
This year, 100 percent of the proceeds from Mary Bridge Children’s Courage will benefit Mary Bridge Children’s Child Abuse Intervention Department (CAID).
For decades, CAID has worked with the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Pierce County to provide a safe, child-focused place for victims of child abuse to seek help. CAID offers medical assistance, family support and general education to empower members of the community to recognize signs of abuse.
Because of donations from the community, nearly 15,000 children suspected to be victims of abuse or neglect have received medical exams through CAID since 1988.
We know the community has an active role in preventing child abuse and neglect. Please do your part! If you suspect abuse or neglect of a child, take immediate action. Call 1-866-EndHARM (1-866-363-4276) or call 911 if it is an emergent situation. You can also contact the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital Children’s Advocacy Center of Pierce County at 253-403-1478, Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
Together, we can keep kids safe and empower families to stop abuse.
