Raising money for Courage can be easy and (dare we say it?) FUN!
One of the many ways that the Banana Slugs raise money for Mary Bridge Children’s Courage can be summed up in two words: habanero jelly,
“I decided to start making jelly because I really like it,” Brett Nirider, Banana Slugs Team captain, says. “So, I figured out how to make it and then I started bringing it into work and people were like ‘Oh, this is so good.’ So then I thought ‘Okay, I'm going to do that as a fundraiser.’ The first year that I did the Courage, I think I made 100 jars.”
Rumor has it, it’s delicious with goat cheese.
Some of Brett’s crafty team members, like Liz, also make and sell earrings. While all of these are fun and creative ways to raise money for Courage, one of the most effective ways for the team to raise money is to simply ask for donations. They reach out to their community of friends, family and neighbors and ask them to help patients and families at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
With social distancing still in full effect, one of the most effective (and safest) ways to donate is to go virtual. The Mary Bridge Children’s Courage crew has come up with a few ways you can FUNdraise without leaving your home.
