BRIDGES: A Center for Grieving Children, gives children and their families a safe place to grieve. Children like Avery and Colin, who lost their mom to cancer when they were just 5 and 7 years old.
BRIDGES is a grief support center serving families with children ages 4 through 18 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, relative or friend or have someone in their life living with a serious diagnosis. We offer peer support groups facilitated by trained volunteers.
We offer a support program just for children because they grieve differently than adults. We believe that every family member is entitled to the opportunity to grieve in a supportive, informed and understanding environment. It's our hope that the children we serve will reconcile the death, and growth and healing will occur.
Support services are available at the BRIDGES' main location in Tacoma, as well as at the Children’s Therapy Unit on the MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital campus in Puyallup.
Our support groups are age and developmentally appropriate. We use discussion and specifically designed activities to help children through the grieving process.
