We conduct 99 percent of lab tests sent to us within our own laboratories. Our testing menus are customized to meet a wide variety of testing needs. For example, our special instrumentation requires extremely small specimen volumes to accommodate needs of the tiniest pediatric patients.
The largest laboratory is at Tacoma General Hospital, which also provides testing for Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and serves as the referral center for the rest of the laboratory system. Other large testing laboratories are located at Good Samaritan Hospital, Allenmore Hospital, Auburn Medical Center, and the medical parks at Covington and Gig Harbor.
The laboratories owned by MultiCare are organized into an integrated and collaborative system known as Laboratories Northwest (Labs NW). The system is composed of 27 patient service centers and laboratories located in Pierce, Thurston, and South King counties.
Labs NW is proud to be on the leading edge of technology with a long history of innovation, implementation of the latest instrumentation and methodologies, capital reinvestment, and a culture of growth opportunities for staff development.
Technical positions at Labs NW vary from outpatient-based generalist to highly technical requiring extensive specialized knowledge and training such as molecular genomics, flow cytometry, and other highly complex modalities. The laboratory system partners with community education programs (including UW and Clover Park Technical College) to provide internship opportunities for Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technicians, and Phlebotomists.
Laboratories Northwest is proud to have dedicated and loyal employees serving our medical community and helping meet our vision of "Supporting Excellence in Clinical Outcomes".
