Name: Courtney Kennel, DO
Where did you grow up? Lakewood, WA
Undergrad: Occidental College
Medical School: Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences
Philosophy of Care: I strive to help my patients to live the healthiest and happiest life possible. I love family medicine because of the relationships that I can form with my patients to help influence positive changes in their lives.
Why did you choose EPFM Residency? When I completed my sub-internship at EPFM I felt at home. Being from a new medical school, I knew what it was like to be part of a new program. I liked the vision of this residency and the thought of being able to have an impact on the direction of the program was exciting to me. A bonus is that the program was only 20 minutes away from my family, which is helpful during such a busy time in life.
Medical Interests: I am really interested in preventive medicine, which is probably why I really enjoy working with my pediatric patients. I hope to inspire healthy lifestyle choices early in life to help to prevent future diseases like diabetes, hypertension, obesity, which is so prevalent in our community. I also really enjoy sports medicine and any office procedure I can get my hands on!
Personal Interests/Hobbies: I enjoy running along the Tacoma Waterfront or Chambers Bay, hanging out with my friends and family, cooking and baking, hosting dinner parties, boating on the Puget Sound, and watching or playing sports.
Fun Fact about You: I was on the track team for Occidental and I threw the javelin, discus and hammer.
