Cancer is a disease in which the body’s abnormal cells multiply at a higher than normal rate and spread to one or more parts of the body, sometimes causing masses or tumors to develop. MultiCare Deaconess Hospital’s cancer care facility combines cancer treatment technology with oncology specialists to deliver care and support to cancer patients and their families.
The cancer program at Deaconess Hospital has held an American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accreditation since 1952. We provide all treatment options for cancer, including surgery and chemotherapy, as well as a wide range of other clinical and support services.
At Deaconess Hospital, we aim to provide patients battling cancer — and their families — a source of strength, care, support and hope. Our cancer team consists of physicians and other health care professionals, representing the full spectrum of specialties involved in cancer care. We host cancer conferences that are designed as a care-planning approach in which the group of specialists collectively designs the best course of treatment options for each patient. Specialists in medical and radiation oncology, radiology, surgery and cancer research meet weekly to evaluate and discuss the appropriate treatment strategy for our patients.
