Labor support is essential and looks different for every birthing family. Those who feel supported have better birth experiences. At MultiCare we especially value our Doula partnership during the labor process. The COVID pandemic has left many families in our community with limited resources.
One of our MultiCare Core Values is Stewardship. Stewardship means taking care of something. We can do this by making things easy and seamless for patients, taking ownership and solving problems. We are excited to exemplify this value in our updated Visitor Guidelines for all of our Family Birth Centers:
Another one of our MultiCare Values is Excellence. We strive to be the best, act for safety's sake, adopt to evolving needs, and to use best practices, research and standards when delivering patient care. In striving to provide excellent care, we are pleased to continue to follow the most recent American Academy of Pediatric (AAP) recommendations related to COVID positive moms. These recommendations encourage rooming in with their newborn, supporting skin to skin care, exclusive breastfeeding and family education.
Having a baby should be a wonderful experience- and we want to keep it that way.
