Research Day celebrates research efforts conducted across our health system to benefit our community and beyond. This event highlights the diversity of our studies and the research investigators who are dedicated to advancing patient care options for all.

Parking:
Limited parking was available for a fee in Jackson Hall, otherwise valet parking was available across the street at Tacoma General Hospital for a nominal fee.

This year will surpass expectations with a series of short, investigator-led presentations to reveal a small portion of the study portfolio from the largest community-hospital-based research program in the South Sound.

To ceremoniously conclude a morning full of presentations, the MultiCare research effort that most advances medical science will be competitively selected for special recognition in the following areas:

  • Best Work-In-Progress
    2016 Winner: Dr. Thomas Hurt, Forearm Fracture Reduction by Pediatric Emergency Physicians.
    Runner-up: Mary S. McCarthy, RN, PhD, Using Genomics to Assess Vitamin D Deficiency and Supplementation
  • Best Completed Project
    2016 Winner: Dr. David Embrey, Electrical Stimulation Reduces Symptoms of Intermittent Claudication
    Runner-up: Bethann Pflugeisen, MS, MEd, Patient Satisfaction with Virtual Obstetric Care
  • Outstanding Research Investigator Award
    2016 Winner: Dr. Jack Keech
  • Diane Cecchettini Excellence In Research Award
    2016 Winner: Dr. Steven Phillips

Everyone is encouraged to stop by when they are available - and stay for as long as possible - to hear MultiCare and select community researchers present. The conference is open to MultiCare staff, patients, donors, clinicians, community collaborators as well as other stakeholders in research.

Additional Info:
Coffee, tea and water provided, inlcluding the satellite conference rooms. A light lunch was available for those in attendance at Jackson Hall.
