Planes, Trains, Automobiles, … and Books
What inspired you to design for Mary Bridge's Festival of Trees?
My first experience with Festival of Trees was the year I started working for MultiCare ten years ago and was invited as an employee to attend employee night at the Convention Center. I was amazed at the beauty of the trees and the feeling of holiday spirit. I knew the moment I walked into the doors I wanted to be a designer and support this amazing event that benefits our children in our community.
How long have you been involved with the Festival of Trees?
I have been a tree designer for 10 years with my co-designer Trixy Dorn. The Center for Healthy Living & Health Equity team joins in to support our tree and this wonderful event.
Do you have a favorite theme or genre? Or a favorite story to share?
My favorite tree was our Dr. Seuss inspired tree where we launched the Reading Wagon where we collected donated new books for children who visit MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and provider offices. It was a tree full of 2000+ books and everything Dr. Seuss. It was voted Kids Choice Award that year. The Reading Wagon continues to bring in over 2000+ books every year, and this year our theme is Trains, Planes, Automobiles, and Books.
What is your theme and inspiration for this year's tree?
We will continue to promote the Reading Wagon that provides books to children of all age groups and helps makes their day a little brighter by receiving a new book. Our theme this year is Planes, Trains, Automobiles, … and Books!
What packages are you planning to include with your tree?
We are looking for donated new books with the theme of Trains, Planes, & Automobiles any age. We are offering some amazing train experiences and more. Currently, we are looking for any experiences that relate to our theme. We are seeking donations of any train, plane, or automobiles as well. They can be models, train sets, and planes.
