In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Hope Grows Here partnered with local florists and Metro Parks Tacoma to distribute more than 2,000 potted flowers and flower bouquets across our communities.
It started with leaving 500 bouquets on 500 doorsteps as a show of support for mental health and wellness. Each bouquet come with a sweet note to encourage recipients to “pay it forward” with a kind gesture of their own to a friend or neighbor.
Later in the month, potted flowers were scattered across MultiCare hospital campuses to help brighten the days of our health care heroes.
One community member shared just how much it meant to her when she opened her door to find flowers and a kind note of encouragement from a stranger:
“I don’t know who to thank for putting flowers on my porch this morning but it made me cry! I didn’t even realize how much I needed this. It’s comforting to know that people who don’t even know your struggles could reach out and show such kindness. I will pay it forward.
Thank you so much to the volunteer that made my day. Whoever they may be."
We invite you to participate in your own version of Friday Flowers by dropping off a flower or a kind note to one of your neighbors. You can even print out this note for inspiration, then share a photo of your delivery and tag @hopegrowsheremulticare on Facebook and Instagram.
