Integrative Medicine

We Don't Treat Patients, We Care for People

Getting the medical care you need when you have a serious illness, chronic condition or ongoing health challenge is vitally important for your health. But there's so much more to getting healthy and staying well than getting the right treatment for your symptoms or concerns.

At MultiCare Health System we are committed to caring for our patients as whole people — not just treating their disease. This is why, in addition to some of the region's most advanced surgical and medical treatments, we offer our patients a wide array of integrative medicine services.

What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative medicine, sometimes also referred to as "complementary and alternative therapy,” refers to supplementary treatment and support services that work in complement to mainstream methods of treatment. These services help us support you from a physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual perspective — all of which can have a significant impact on your health.

Integrative medicine is not used in place of conventional treatment, but as an important part of your treatment to promote well being and alleviate side effects from medication, surgeries, chemotherapies and radiation.

How Can Integrative Medicine Help?

Patients who use integrative medicine services have reported:

  • Improved quality of life
  • Less pain
  • Less treatment-related anxiety
  • Relief of symptoms, such as nausea, that may be associated with their treatment
