Job Shadowing for College Applications

How do I secure a Job Shadow at MultiCare?

MultiCare’s Student Placement team manages the job shadow process for students applying to a college health care program. The first step is to complete an application and provide current immunization records.  Once a completed application is received, student placement will work with you to secure a job shadow at a MultiCare facility.

What are the immunizations that I must have for a job shadow opportunity?

  • Proof of (2) MMR or immunity
  • Proof of TB test (2 negative skin tests or 1 QuantiFeron Gold blood test within the last 12 months)
  • Proof of (2) Varicella (VZV) immunization or physician verification of immunity
  • Proof of Tdap (after age 18)
  • Proof of Hep B or immunity
  • Proof of Flu shot (current season)

When can I apply for a job shadow?

To secure a job shadow at MultiCare, you should apply 1 ½ -2 months prior to the program application deadline required by the college.

How do I get an application for a job shadow request?

What are the requirements to be considered for a Job Shadow at MultiCare?

MultiCare offers job shadows to applicants of health care programs where a requirement to enter the program is to complete job shadow hours at a health care site.

Can I shadow a family member?

We do not allow applicants to complete job shadows with family members.

Do you offer jobs shadows with nurses or doctors?

Student Placement does not assign job shadows to nurses or doctors.  For job shadows in these areas you may contact Volunteer Services for assistance at [email protected].

How many job shadow hours can I receive at MultiCare?

We offer 8 hours of job shadowing per applicant. Due to the volume of requests we receive we are not able to accommodate more than 8 hours per person and only offer a job shadow on a one-time, observation-only basis. 

How long will it take to get a job shadow assignment?

Typically, the process takes between 2-4 weeks. If your application is accepted, student placement will work to find a job shadow option for you. 

How will I know once my job shadow has been scheduled?

Once your job shadow has been confirmed you will be sent an invitation via email with details regarding the location, shift and sponsor name/contact information. 

What should I wear?

The participant will be expected to follow the MultiCare Dress Code which is appropriate business casual attire, with closed-toe shoes. Jeans are not allowed.
