The Happy Sinners
With new sounds reminiscent of old feelings, The Happy Sinners bring exuberance and positivity to their performances. They play a mix of classic Americana songs, re-interpreted with a modern feel, as well as original compositions reflecting these roots. The members of The Happy Sinners are from the Hilltop District in Tacoma and can be found frequently playing at local events and community activities in The Gritty City.
Emcee for the evening
Joyce Taylor | KING 5 News, Evening Anchor
There truly is no place like home! Joyce Taylor has been a familiar face and voice around the Pacific Northwest for more than 30 years. As a Washington native, she was thrilled to begin her dream job at KING 5 News in Seattle in 1988. She’s been there ever since, and now calls it an honor to deliver the news as weeknight evening anchor.
Joyce doesn’t only have a heart for Seattle—she’s also South Sound Proud.
“Is LOVE too strong a word for how I feel about the Northwest? Of course not.” Joyce says. “I was raised in Tacoma with two brothers and two sisters, including my twin.”
Over the course of her successful career in television, Joyce has met news legends and celebrities from all walks of life. But it’s the people right here at home who have meant the most her.
“YOU – my neighbors – are some of the most interesting and remarkable people I’ve met,” Joyce says. “Mothers and fathers, educators and musicians, students and veterans and volunteers changing the world! YOU are the people who have shaped our community and it’s YOUR stories you have so generously shared that I love to tell most of all.”
