Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital offers an Inpatient Pediatric Service (IPS) specializing in the care of hospitalized children. The IPS consists of a group of full-time, board-certified pediatricians who function as an extension of a primary care physician and are available to provide 24-hour, onsite personalized care to hospitalized children at Mary Bridge.
The Mary Bridge IPS is also available to regional providers and sub-specialists in a consultative role. Admission to IPS is completely optional and referring providers are not required to have privileges at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital to access this service. Referring providers contact Mary Bridge IPS directly for consults and admissions.
Our Inpatient Pediatric Service provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for a wide range of complex diseases and injuries in children.
Mary Bridge IPS physicians work with a child's primary care provider (PCP), nurses and, when necessary, pediatric specialists, to help guide a family through their child's hospital stay. The PCP will be updated regularly throughout the child's inpatient treatment. Upon discharge, a child is returned to the care of his or her PCP, along with a discharge summary and a follow-up phone call.
Mary Bridge is a full service, inpatient hospital with a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Medical/Surgical Unit, offering child and family-centered care through a pediatric team. Mary Bridge is also the state-designated Level II Pediatric Trauma Center for Western Washington. At Mary Bridge, we understand that when a child is ill, it affects the whole family. Parents are an important part of their child’s care team, which is why our IPS attending physicians conduct rounds in the child’s room with the family present whenever possible.
