Improving Outcomes for Special Needs Children

CTU Video Still Adam

The Mary Bridge Rehabilitation Medicine program treats children with serious, chronic medical conditions ranging from neurologic and development challenges to musculoskeletal issues, including:

  • Brain or spinal cord injury
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Complications due to cancer, hemophilia and other diseases
  • Genetic conditions
  • Guillain Barre
  • Hypotonia
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Spasticity
  • Spina bifida
  • Stroke
  • Walking issues, or gait disturbances

Using tailored therapies that engage children through play, our medical treatment programs help improve functional outcomes and allow children to achieve benchmarks such as:

  • Increased independence
  • More efficient gait
  • Better comfort and positioning
  • Improved ability to feed and socialize

Our board-certified doctors provide care to children in multiple locations in Pierce and South King counties.

Powerful Care Partners

Our program is connected with the Children's Therapy Unit (CTU), as well as other robust pediatric therapy programs at Mary Bridge. The CTU is the oldest and largest hospital-based rehabilitation services center for children in Washington State.  We also partner with your child's PTs, OTs, and speech therapists within their school and community to provide comprehensive care.

Seamless Care as They Grow

Our Transition Program allows for seamless transition from pediatric providers to adult providers and equips adolescents to be successful at the highest level functionally possible. We have partnered with the MultiCare Physiatry Group to help guide families through the often complex process of transitioning care from the pediatric environment.
