UpToDate service has resumed

Earlier this spring, we had transitioned from UpToDate to DynaMed as our preferred clinical reference tool. Subsequently, we received considerable feedback from physicians that led to an online survey to more intentionally gather physician input and feedback. As a result of your valuable feedback, we are pleased to announce that we have resumed UpToDate access for all MultiCare physicians as of April 11, 2014

ICD-10 update and workflow changes

Recent federal legislation states CMS may not mandate ICD-10 implementation prior to October 1, 2015. It is unclear whether or not CMS and other payers will implement in advance of that deadline. Evaluating the path moving forward, MultiCare does not want to lose momentum with the progress we are making towards a successful implementation.

Federal government delays ICD-10 implementation

The Senate voted to delay ICD-10 implementation by one additional year to Oct. 1, 2015. This decision marks the second implementation delay since 2012

Communicate electronically with hospice as of April 1

Effective April 1, MultiCare Connect® users will be able to communicate electronically with the MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospice team through Epic. Physicians will be able to write a patient referral, sign a referral, write the order, sign the hospice certificate of terminal illness and other orders electronically.

Dr. Spain-Remy honored at Women of Color Empowered luncheon

MultiCare Health System’s Claire Spain-Remy, MD, was honored at the Women of Color Empowered luncheon for Women Leaders in Health Care today in Seattle. Dr. Spain-Remy, an obstetrician and gynecologist, is Senior Vice President of MultiCare Medical Associates, which oversees more than 550 providers employed by MultiCare.


Diagnosis-based Preference Lists will be eliminated on April 23

As part of the ICD-10 implementation in April 2014, diagnosis based preference lists will be going away. It was determined that with the vast number of codes associated with ICD-10, it would be nearly impossible to create and maintain accurate, user-friendly diagnosis based preference lists.

New this year for the peer-to-peer survey is ability for providers to nominate nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
