MultiCare Regional Cancer Center: Why Refer a Patient to Us?

We are a comprehensive cancer center offering more of the services patients need in one program. Our commitment to high-quality standards and cancer care innovation has helped our program earn recognition at the national level.

Highlights of our program include:

  • Expertise: Many of our oncologists and surgeons are fellowship-trained. We are also one of only a few programs in the region with a cardio-oncologist. This level of expertise allows us to deliver effective cancer care while helping patients avoid complications. Read more about our cancer care team.

  • Access to clinical trials: We have been offering promising new chemotherapy drugs through clinical trials since the early 1980s . Today, we are a trusted partner in clinical trial networks, including the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). These efforts give patients care options that are not widely available. Learn more about cancer research and clinical trials.

  • Collaboration: We are the only program in the region affiliated with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). This network of Seattle’s leading cancer programs gives patients access to additional clinical trials. Our clinical team benefits from the expertise of SCCA’s renowned clinicians and researchers through regular medical education opportunities. • Precise surgical care: We may implant a tiny device (SAVI SCOUT®) that allows surgeons to accurately pinpoint the site of the tumor during surgery. The device may be implanted any time prior to surgery and offers significant advantage over wire localization techniques, including:
    • Added comfort for patients
    • Decreased wait times between radiology and surgery
    • Enhanced surgical access of tumors
    • Fewer surgical delays
    • Improved patient satisfaction and well-being

Nationally Recognized Cancer Care

MultiCare was the first program in the region recognized by the American Society for Radiation Oncology with its prestigious Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx®) designation. We are also accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). And we are accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Find out more about us.

Multidisciplinary Consultation

We welcome all referrals. Our simplified approach means you may refer a patient to any member of our care team. We coordinate the additional tests or consultations necessary to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Your patient benefits from the combined expertise of specialists in every aspect of cancer care. We coordinate care with the help of nurse navigators as well as our secure electronic health record. We also hold regular tumor board meetings where we plan treatments, therapies and support services to meet each patient’s needs.

More Information About Referring a Patient

We handle urgent requests within the same business day when possible. For non-urgent requests, we often see new patients within two business days – including patients without insurance.
