The Pennell family's story was featured at this year's Festival of Trees. Kari and Trevor are pictured here with their children Avery and Colin.

The 29th annual Mary Bridge Festival of Trees took place earlier this month. Since 1987, the festival has raised more than $25 million to support young patients at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital — and given us an opportunity to showcase real-life stories about some of the families we have been able to help, thanks to the support of the community.

Below, see how BRIDGES: A Center for Grieving Children gives children and their families a safe place to grieve — children like Avery and Colin, who lost their mom to cancer when they were just 5 and 7 years old.
