Meet two new moms and two South King County babies
More than 1,000 families choose MultiCare Auburn Family Birth Center to bring their newest members into the world every year.
This week, to help us celebrate South King County Baby Week, we asked two new moms to share their recent experiences at our birth center.
Jessie and baby Kenra
Jessie's labor was four days long. Even though work kept her fiancé away from the hospital during the day while she stayed at the MultiCare Auburn Family Birth Center, Jessie never felt alone.
"The nurses were always checking in on me," she says. 'It was like having a friend there to help me get through it."
Baby Kenra was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. The complication was scary for the new parents, but nurses helped ease their fears and made sure they were taken care of, along with their new baby, who is doing just fine four months later.
"I felt like I was safe," Jessie says.
DesMarie and baby Zayna
DesMarie delivered her first baby at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital. When it was time to think about where to deliver baby number two, she knew she wanted a MultiCare hospital.
“I like MultiCare,” DesMarie says. “It works for me. Everything is connected through MyChart. It’s so easy.”
Now a resident of Kent, the MultiCare Auburn Family Birth Center was closest to her home.
DesMarie saw Sarah Chen, MD, aka The Pregnant OB, for her prenatal care. Dr. Chen was on her own maternity leave when DesMarie delivered baby Zayna, but Dr. Chen stopped by the hospital to visit on her first day back from leave.
DesMarie plans to tell all of her friends about the great care she received in Auburn.
“I got lots of great information from the nurses and a lactation consultant came and met me in my room. I felt great about the care.”
