You spend months preparing for the arrival of your baby — but then what? Are you prepared to bring your baby home? Is the car seat ready? Is your family ready? Are YOU ready?
It can all feel a little overwhelming, especially for first-time parents. And it would definitely be easier if babies came with instructions.
While we can’t offer you an instruction manual, luckily, MultiCare has plenty of resources to help you feel confident and ready to care for your baby once you leave the hospital. Our Family Birth Centers offer a range of childbirth and family education classes
for new and experienced parents. From labor coping skills and sleeping issues to introducing your baby to older siblings, we’re here to support you and your growing family.
"I learned a great deal in the Newborn Basics class at Tacoma General,” said Todd, a Gig Harbor dad. “Before becoming a father, I had little experience with kids, let alone infants. The class taught me how to properly hold my daughter, swaddle her, feed her and change her diaper. The instructor provided great insight on the smaller details of parenting that I wouldn't have known otherwise. "

. Hospitals won't let you take your newborn home without an appropriate car seat, and making sure it's installed properly is the best way to transport your baby safely.
