MultiCare Pulmonary Specialists is a multi-physician group located in Tacoma, Wash. The site employs an experienced research team comprised of board certified Pulmonologists, Study Coordinators, and an Administrative Assistant. The site is conveniently located near three hospitals and all clinical research is done on site. In addition, the site has a comprehensive patient database that is connected to all MultiCare facilities.
James R. Taylor, M.D., Medical Director for the site, has more than 20 years of research experience and has conducted over 150 trials. Dr. Taylor trained at Stanford University, University of California San Francisco and the University of Washington. Dr. Taylor is board certified in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Internal Medicine, and is the Medical Director of the ICU at Tacoma General Hospital.

Darcie A. Cruz, MA, CCRC: Ms. Cruz has over fifteen years of experience in clinical research, the majority of which has been in the conduct of allergy and pulmonary related research. She is a member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist and certified in Basic Life Support and I.V. therapy. Over the past decade Ms. Cruz has conducted a wide range of pulmonary related clinical trials to include Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, asthma, allergy & allergic rhinitis, smoking cessation, and sleep disorders.
Anika M. Uson, Administrative Assistant II: Ms. Uson has worked in clinical research for over ten years providing administrative, financial, and regulatory support to researchers in the corporate office of a national Site Management Organization and most recently for a 15-physician independent medical/research practice. Ms. Uson's expertise is in Institutional Review Board filings, good clinical practices, and required site processes relating to clinical research to facilitate an efficient study initiation and execution process.
Jami E. Smith, Rx Tech, CRC: Ms. Smith is a certified Pharmacy Technician. She started her career in research in 2002 working as a Research Assistant at St. Joseph Medical Center, Tacoma, Wash., assisting with the execution and conduct of inpatient clinical trials. She completed the Morley Foundation Basic Training for Clinical Research Coordinators in 2003. Ms. Smith joined MultiCare Pulmonary Specialist's research team in 2011.
