We are Occupational Therapists and Certified Hand Therapists with extensive training and expertise for evaluating and treating disorders of the hand, wrist, elbow and various conditions affecting the shoulder.
The hand rehabilitation team is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to restore optimal upper extremity function in the shortest period of time possible. We believe the development of each individualized treatment program is essential to facilitate rapid recovery.
The therapists provide treatment for a wide variety of chronic, traumatic and post-operative conditions affecting the upper extremity.
For chronic conditions, treatment will consist of prevention, activity modification and symptom management. Often, therapists will implement splints to reduce symptoms. Home therapy programs will be developed, progressed and monitored to assist in the recovery process.
For traumatic injuries or post-operative conditions, treatment will include pain management, reduction of swelling, wound management and the gradual progression of joint motion. Specialized protocols related to the upper extremity are often applied and custom splints may be fabricated for protecting the injured arm.
Splint fabrication may not always encompass the inhibition of movement. Often, customized splinting is used for mobilizing joints to prevent progressive joint stiffness.
Our therapists are fully committed to providing professional hospitality when helping people achieve optimal functional recovery and independence.
