Options for Breast Cancer Prevention & Treatment

Breast Multidisciplinary Clinic

Prevention and early detection is key to the treatment of breast cancer. Your annual mammogram is essential. At MultiCare Rockwood Breast Health Center, we offer a spa-like atmosphere and your tests are performed by highly trained technologists. This center was built for women concerned about developing breast cancer.

Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Tumor Board

Our team of oncologists, surgeons, radiologists and consulting specialists join together to determine the optimal course of treatment for each woman. This forum allows for individual assessment of the optimal course of treatment for each person. This is an excellent resource for women in our community seeking a second opinion about their breast cancer treatment.

High-Risk Breast Cancer Clinic

This clinic is designed for women concerned about developing breast cancer. If you or someone you know has a family history of breast cancer, has had previous breast biopsies or has been told they have a high risk of breast cancer, this clinic is an excellent resource. Risk assessment, education, genetic counseling/testing and risk reduction recommendations and follow-up are obtained by women referred to this special service.

Patient Education/Counseling

Cancer can be a complex condition to understand. Our oncology nurse practitioner offers pre-operative and pre-consultative visits to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. This coaching session helps patients and families to maneuver through the decision-making process and can occur anytime after the diagnosis has been made. Our oncology counselor is also available for individual counseling to discuss strategies for coping with the stresses of a cancer diagnosis.

Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

We support the mission to cure breast cancer with a research department dedicated to providing access to leading clinical trials. Partnering with national organizations such as the National Cancer Institute, the NSABP and the Southwest Oncology Group, our physicians are committed to exploring new and better treatments for the benefit of each patient. Participation is entirely voluntary.
