Patient-Centered Medical Home
MultiCare Health System remains financially stable while continuing to expand services and regional impact. Our alignment and shared goals have further enabled our PCMH (patient centered medical home) ongoing NCQA Level 3 certification. Our clinic provides residents with a wealth of learning opportunities as well as resources (including on site availability of a clinical pharmacist, social worker, behavioral scientist/psychologist, psychiatrist, pediatrician, nurse midwife, behavioral health counselors, population health RN and a chronic disease care coordinator). The multidisciplinary nature of our collaborative work serves to elevate the care provided and education received. Our clinic has had an integrated EMR (Epic) for over 20 years and we have been providing video visits for the past 3 years (work that has expanded further with the current COVID-19 pandemic).
Our Patient Population
Pierce County is one of the most ethnically diverse counties in Washington State. Our urban, underserved clinic cares for an 70% Medicaid/Medicare patient panel reflecting the diversity of our area and highlighting the impact of social determinants of health. Our inpatient family medicine panel cares for our clinic patients as well as patients from the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority, adding unique and rich cross-cultural patient perspectives. Our faculty and residents take pride in working as a team to provide the highest standard of medicine to our own local community.
