TFM offers a 4 week family medicine sub-internship between August and January every academic year. Most Sub-I slots consist of 2 weeks on the Family Medicine Inpatient med/peds service, and 2 weeks of OB experience paired with a rural medicine / OB fellow. Occasionally, when there is no fellow available to be paired with a Sub-I, we may offer a 4 week inpatient experience. We encourage our sub-interns to function as much like interns as possible, taking on the role of their patients’ primary physician and learning to make management decisions with the support of senior residents and faculty.
Dates for a clerkship are individually negotiated but generally take place during our interview season—November to February. Clerkships are arranged by contacting Dr. Kate Landy via email at [email protected]
Arranging a rotation involves completing a student interview sheet and forwarding it, along with a current CV, to Dr. Landy. A phone interview may follow thereafter, should our faculty have any questions that need clarifying concerning whether the applicant is an appropriate match. Applicants are then reviewed by the faculty and the student is notified of the final decision.
Once a clerkship has been approved, you will receive information for completing the necessary administrative requirements with MultiCare’s GME Program Coordinator.
