MultiCare Valley Hospital offers a convenient location for outpatient procedures and pre-surgical activities. Our outpatient services areas features a large waiting room, centralized patient services, including preoperative check-in and our Surgical Assessment Clinic (SAC), as well as private patient rooms.
We want your surgery to be as safe and efficient as possible. That's why we ask you to visit our Surgical Assessment Clinic (SAC) before your surgery so we can gather information about your medical history and ensure you are ready for your scheduled procedure. For example, during this appointment we may ask whether you are taking blood thinners or herbal medications — some herbals must be stopped two weeks prior to surgery — or we may determine that an electrocardiogram (EKG) is a good idea. Our staff will conduct this assessment and gather any tests or materials so that your anesthesiologist and your surgeon can take appropriate precautions for your safety.
On the day of your surgery, please check in at Outpatient Services (whether you are staying overnight or not). Staff will start an IV and you will meet your anesthesiologist. Bring a companion if you wish; this person can stay with you until you go into the surgery suite and may wait for you in Outpatient Services. After surgery, we will update your family on how the procedure went. If you are not staying overnight, you will return to Outpatient Services to fully wake up, receive discharge instructions and get ready to go home.
